Meet Tara Evans

Tara grew up in Jeffersonville, Indiana. It was there where she expanded on her love of the arts, built a foundation for public service, and committed her life to the Christian faith.

Tara has always been a lover of the arts. She has natural vocal talent and has been a dancer since she was three years old. Performing at such a young age gave her the determination and self confidence to excel in all of her future endeavors. As a dance team captain in college, she built a team that was known for captivating sports audiences during halftime. Upon graduation she continued to work with the team of young women acting as a mentor and sponsor. Tara grew up singing in her church choir, and has sung the National Anthem at Jefferson/Jackson fund-raising dinners and events hosted by former Mayor Bart Peterson.

Tara has always found comfort in helping others. She has volunteered her time with countless organizations such as Northside New Era Baptist Church and the NAACP. She taught Spanish to beginning students at Girls Inc. and is a current board member of the Pike Township Education Foundation. Tara was an intern with the Indiana State Democratic Party, a Governor’s Fellow under the late Frank O’Bannon, and an active member of the mayoral campaign for Bart Peterson.

Tara is a product of the Jeffersonville Public School System. She is a graduate of Hanover College with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Communications. She received her Master’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University Indianapolis.
